Boy, 14, drowns in Devarabeesanahalli lake

A 14-year-old boy drowned in the Devarabeesanahalli lake in Marathahalli on Saturday.

Padmanabha, who went swimming with his friends around 4 pm, ventured into the water and drowned. His friends got scared and ran away. Padmanabha's parents, who got to know about the incident, rushed to the spot and alerted the police, who summoned the fire and emergency services personnel. The rescue personnel retrieved the body at 7 pm.

Padmanabha was the son of Shankar, a resident of Bellandur. The family hails from Tamil Nadu.

The police are ascertaining as to who is the custodian of the lake, and will send a notice for not installing warning signage at the premises.
