A 14-year-old boy hated boarding school so much that he committed suicide when his parents pressured him to go back to the institution after Ganesha Chaturthi holidays.

Darshan R, a class 8 student at a school run by Siddaganga Mutt, Tumakuru, came home last week for the festival and to get himself an Aadhaar card. But the Aadhaar enrolment didn't happen and it was time for him to go back to school. His parents, Raju and Lakshmi, told him that the enrolment can be done sometime later and asked him to go back to Tumakuru. The family lives in Rajagoplanagar near Laggere, North Bengaluru.

But the boy put his foot down and said he wanted to stay with his parents and attend a school near home. The parents didn't agree. On Tuesday afternoon, when they were away at work, Darshan reportedly hanged himself. The incident emerged when his mother came home around 7 pm. Police said they didn't find a suicide letter.

Darshan's father is a mechanic in a factory in Peenya Industrial Area. He wanted his son to get the best education and that's why he had enrolled him in Siddaganga Mutt. The mother runs a tea stall in Rajagopalanagar.
