Faulty EVM delays poll process

Last Updated 08 May 2019, 07:59 IST

Hundreds were stuck in queue for more than two hours after an EVM broke down at a polling station in Lawrence School in Koramangala 8th Block.

The EVM at booth no. 83 initially started working, but around 9.30 am stopped working completely. A large number of people in the queue returned to their homes. Some came in the afternoon to find a serpentine queue.

EC officials informed about the incident to the returning officer who tried fixing the machine online. But even after the fix, voting was slow, and voters standing in queue started to complain. By evening, officials fixed the EVM and voting increased.

Faulty EVMs at the Pinto Convent School in Gubbalala, Bangalore Rural , saw voters waiting for over 30 minutes.
