The Karnataka High Court dismissed a petition filed by 46 officers and contractors of the BBMP seeking quashing of notice and FIR issued by the ACB in the PF and ESI funds misuse case. Hearing the petition, Justice P S Dinesh Kumar directed the officers and contractors to submit the original records pertaining to the PF and ESI funds to the ACB, as sought by them. The court also asked them to cooperate with the investigation.
The ACB was asked to take up the case by the state government following a complaint by the former chairman of the Karnataka State Safai Karmachari Commission who alleged that the BBMP officers and contractors syphoned off approximately Rs 550 crore from the PF and ESI funds of the ‘pourakarmikas’.
