Urging the State government to initiate action against University of Mysore Vice Chancellor K S Rangappa, for several charges of corruption proved against him, Mysuru-based Save Universities Forum has decided to take up ‘Raj Bhavan Chalo’ on December 30.

Prof Rangappa has been under scanner for several irregularities during his tenure. A one-man committee, headed by Justice Bhaktavatsala, had submitted a report, based on which the Governor had directed action in the matter.

The forum has been actively pursuing the matter with the officials concerned, urging action against the vice chancellor. Its representatives have stated that it was unfortunate that no action was initiated even after 50 days since the Governor’s directions, while the time frame given for the same was one month. There are at least ten different allegations of irregularities against Prof Rangappa.

Following a letter by K S Shivaramu, president of the forum, Mysuru, the Prime Minister’s Office too had asked the departments concerned to provide a report. Prof Rangappa is all set to take part in the Science Congress to be held in Mysore University from January 3. In his letter, Shivaramu had urged the prime minister not to share the dais with Prof Rangappa.
