Malayalam film fest in B'luru from Aug 11

The Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy, in an effort to create a unique opportunity for the exchange of rich cultures of the country, is organising film festivals in Karnataka and Kerala.

The academy and the Department of Information and Public Relations in collaboration with Kerala State Chalachitra Academy will screen Kannada films in Thiruvananthapuram and Malayalam films in Bengaluru.
Minister for Bengaluru Development K J George will inaugurate the festival at 2.30 pm on August 11 at Chamundeshwari Studios in Vasanthnagar.

The inaugural film will be ‘Manhole’ directed by Vidhu Vincent which will be followed by another Malayalam movie ‘Maheshinte Prathikaaram.’

On August 12, ‘Aaradi’ directed by Saji S Palamel will be screened and it will be followed by ‘Kismath’, directed by Shanavas K Bavakutty and ‘Kammatti Paadam’, directed by Rajeev Ravi. ‘Godsay’ directed by Shyju Govind and Sherry Govindan, ‘Mohavalayam’, directed by T V Chandran, and ‘Kaadu Pookunna Neram’, directed by Bijukumar Damodaran, will be screened on the next day.

Award-winning Malayalam film directors Dileesh Pothan, Vidhu Vincent and actor Vinay Fort will take part in the festival. Acclaimed Kannada filmmaker P Sheshadri will speak on the occasion.

Dr P S Harsha, director, Department of Information and Public Relations, and Sa Ra Govindu, chairman, Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce, will be present. The programme will be presided over by Rajendra Singh Babu, chairman, Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy.

Kannada film festival

A Kannada Film Festival at Tiruvanantapuram will be held from August 26 to 28.

Popular Kannada movies like ‘U-Turn’, ‘Thithi’, ‘Kirik Party’, ‘Harikatha Prasanga’, ‘Maarikondavaru’, Naanu Avanalla Avalu’ and ‘Rama Rama Re’ will be screened.
