Man booked for abusing Deve Gowda

Police have booked a man who allegedly uploaded “offensive” social media posts about former prime minister H D Deve Gowda, Chief Minister Kumaraswamy and his son Nikhil Kumaraswamy.

The police registered an FIR under IPC Sections 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 507 (criminal intimidation by an anonymous communication) and 153 (A) (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc, and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony) following a complaint from Pradeep Kumar S P, a JD(S) general secretary.
