In a unique move, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has come up with a plan to remove garbage black spots in the city.

On the occasion of Kannada Rajyotsava, the BBMP will be conducting a rangoli festival with an aim to remove five black spots from each ward.

These black spots will be identified with the help of junior health inspectors in each ward and the garbage will be removed by the pourakarmikas. The BBMP officers, ward committee members and resident welfare association members will also take part in this festival and once the garbage is cleared, the residents can draw a rangoli at the spot.

The joint commissioner, solid waste management, BBMP has given a press statement that this is one of the initiatives undertaken by the civic body to create awareness about cleanliness.
