A security guard killed his partner and later killed himself in their rented house at Viewers’ Colony in JP Nagar, South Bengaluru.

The bodies of Chikkamoga (50) and his partner Ramya (35) were found in a decomposed state on Tuesday night. Both hail from Nalluru village in Mandya.

Preliminary investigations by Konanakunte police revealed that the two had been living together in Bengaluru for the past six years in a rented house. Chikkamoga worked as a security guard in a beverages firm while Ramya worked at a garment factory.

Their deaths came to light on Tuesday night when Ramya’s uncle (father’s younger brother) visited her house after Ramya’s mother asked him to check on her since she was not answering phone calls. On opening the door of the house, Ramya’s uncle found her dead on the floor. He immediately alerted the police.

Police learnt that Chikkamoga smashed Ramya’s head on the wall and hit it with an empty LPG cylinder. He later hanged himself. Precisely what triggered the deaths is unknown since those involved are dead.

Chikkamoga was a widower. His son and daughter are married. Ramya, who was not legally separated from her husband, had two children studying in sixth and eighth class. Ramya’s husband runs a hotel in her native, where Chikkamoga met her and the two developed a relationship. Since Ramya’s husband is an alcoholic, she eloped with Chikkamoga to the city.

Konanakunte police have taken up a case of murder and suicide, and are investigating the case.
