Three people, including the driver of a cab, abducted and robbed a 43-year-old administrative staff of an IT company by luring him with an offer of a drop to Marathahalli.

N Satyanarayana was returning from a visit to his native and got down at the KR Puram railway station at 3.30 am. As he waited for a drop, a car approached him and the driver offered to drop him at his PG accommodation in Pattanduru Agrahara.

The car had gone a kilometre when two men posing as passengers got into the car and took away Satyanarayana’s gold chain and ring worth Rs 50,000. The driver took the car to an isolated spot and took away his wallet with Rs 1,700, two mobile phones and his spectacles to ensure that he would not note down the registration number.

When Satyanarayana tried to resist them from taking his belongings, one of the men pulled out a dagger and threatened to stab him. They then punched and kicked Satyanarayana, who pleaded with them to return his phones, which he needed for his office work, and promised the suspects he would not go to the police.

The three men considered his request and returned the phones along with his spectacles. The men drove him around for an hour before dumping him at Devarabeesanahalli. Satyanarayana staggered his way to the police station and lodged a complaint.

The Marathahalli police have registered a case of robbery. “We’ve collected CCTV footage of the areas where the suspects had been moving around and are working on tracking them down,” said a senior police officer.
