Following the Supreme Court directions, the police department has deployed over 2,000 personnel to provide foolproof security cover in and around the Vidhana Soudha.

State police chief Neelmani N Raju held a meeting with senior officers on Friday and discussed the security arrangements to be provided to all the MLAs and around the Vidhana Soudha premises.

B K Singh, Additional Commissioner of Police (West), was directed to supervise the arrangements. The police officials have also been directed to provide security to the MLAs returning to the city from Hyderabad. According to Singh, five DCPs, 20 ACPs, 40 inspectors and 2,000 police personnel are assigned for the duty.

On Friday, a team inspected the Vidhana Soudha to decide on the type of security cover to be provided, and also scrutinised the CCTV cameras at the entry and exit points.

A senior police officer said that the entry for public was restricted, but media persons, MLAs and their assistants would be allowed inside the Vidhana Soudha on Saturday.

Meanwhile, City Police Commissioner T Suneel Kumar has imposed prohibitory orders within a one-kilometre radius of the Vidhana Soudha from 6 am to 12 pm on Saturday under Section 144 of the CrPC, and restricted all kinds of processions against any political party.
