A young leopard that was sighted near Bheemanakuppe village in Kengeri limits a few days ago gripping people in panic was successfully rescued on Monday early morning. The leopard got itself trapped in a cage that was kept at Kolur off Chikkanahalli Road and was later rescued by the forest staff.

Following complaints by the local residents about the missing of dogs and goats from their farms and sighting of three leopards a few months ago in the village vicinity, Forest officials had analysed CCTV images and discovered a leopard that was on the prowl near a farmhouse and two cages were kept at Kolur and Bheemanakuppe village to rescue the cat.

Local residents had complained that in the last 20 days over 15 dogs and 10 goats went missing in the village.

Two-days of meticulous planning to place two cages has finally resulted in the rescue of the leopard in the wee hours of Monday.

The rescued leopard was immediately taken to Bannerghatta Rescue Centre for diagnosis and rehabilitation, according to officials.
