Two African nationals booked in drug bust

The city police arrested a 32-year-old African national while selling drugs on Rest House Road on Sunday. Meanwhile, his associate managed to escape.

The Cubbon Park police received information about two foreigners selling contraband drugs near Rest House Park. Clad in plain clothes, the policemen rushed to the spot and confirmed the duo were into drug dealing. Apart from marijuana, the duo was in possession of cocaine as well, which they were selling at a cost of Rs 5000 to Rs 10,000.

The arrested has been identified as Marck Essien while his escaped associate has been identified as Clark George (36), both currently residing at Kalkere in Horamavu.

When the police surrounded the duo, George managed to escape with the drugs while Essien was nabbed with 15 gms and marijuana and 27 gms of cocaine along with Rs 1550 in cash, a mobile phone, and a weighing machine.

The police have launched a manhunt for George after obtaining clues about him from Essien. They have been booked under various sections of the NDPS Act. According to the two passports seized from Essien, he is from Ghana while George was from Nigeria. Essien claimed that he does not know the source of the drugs as it would be sourced by George.
