Two drivers were killed in separate incidents on the wee hours of Tuesday.

In the first incident, armed men stabbed Mohan (28) a native of Arasikere in Hassan as he was walking home after dinner along with his friend Sandeep.

A senior police official said Mohan, a cab driver, was buying cigarette at a shop where a gang picked up a quarrel with him on a minor issue.

The gang followed Mohan, who left the place with Sandeep on a bike, and tried to snatch his mobile phone. They stabbed Mohan when he resisted it.

Sandeep rushed him to a nearby hospital but he was declared brought dead. The Byappanahalli police have taken up a case of robbery and murder and efforts are on to trace the accused.

In the second incident, 30-year-old Hanumathe Gowda alias Kumar, a school bus driver hailing from Gada, was found beaten to death at his rented room in Doddabidarakallu near Peenya on Tuesday morning.

A senior police official said liquor bottles were found in the room. Peenya police probing the case suspect that Gowda had a party with his friends on Monday night and may have died in a fight.

Gowda’s wife called him repeatedly and asked her relatives to check on him when the calls went unanswered. They found him dead in the pool of his own blood and informed the police.
