2 women held for travelling with fake papers

Two Nepalese women's attempt to fly to Sharjah from city's KIA using fake documents was foiled by the city police on Tuesday.

The arrested—Dhimal Mina (25), a resident of Urlabari in Morang district and Tamang Rabina (22) a resident of Topgachchi in Jhapa district— had original passports as verified by the Nepal Embassy, the police said.

However, their tourist visas for Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), turned out to be fake. The duo claimed to have obtained the documents from a travel agent in Kathmandu.

A BOI officer Y S Saini verified their respective tourist's visas with the Nepal embassy in India and confirmed them as forged before he lodged a complaint with the Bengaluru International Airport Police.

Dhimal and Tamang, on being stopped by the Bureau Of Immigration (BOI) at the KIA, said to the police that they were related and were flying to Sharjah to meet their sister.

However, as most of their statements were in the Nepali language and were contradictory, according to the police, the duo was arrested, produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.

According to the police, the two women were to board a flight to Sharjah around 4.30 am on Tuesday. The International airport police have registered two FIRs each after registering a complaint from Saini. Further investigations are underway.
