Vogue emerges winner in 2nd round with Banjara theme

The north zone preliminaries of the eighth edition of Deccan Herald Metrolife Fashion Show was a tightly fought competition of style and substance. The second round, held at CMR Law College in OMBR Layout, saw Vogue Institute of Fashion Technology walking away with the top prize.

The team showcased a Banjara style collection inspired from Rajasthan. The mostly beige coloured outfits sported Rajasthani motifs, including the traditional elephant designs.

Rustic makeup completed the look. The second prize went to Mount Carmel College for an elegant line comprising silken flowy outfits in sober reds, maroons and greens. Jewelled face masks added to the mystery of the entire presentation.

The third place was bagged by the hosts for the evening, CMR Law College. They showcased a casual collection which was a mix of torn denim jeans, jackets, checked shirts, T-shirts and LBDs. The playful choreography added to the fun element.

The fourth prize went to Army Institute of Fashion and Design.

The mostly black outfits were complemented by lace trimmings, net detailing, paper flower embellishments and perfect choreography.

The fifth prize was bagged by St Joseph’s College of Commerce for a line inspired by luxury French couture. Black and silver shimmer combined to create a perfect party wear line.

Director, actor, host and popular RJ Vinayak Joshi, first runner-up at Miss India 2016 Sushruthi Krishna, first runner-up in an international pageant and face of several brands Ava and one of the most promising faces of the Kannada film industry Suraj Gowda were the judges for the event.

A total of 23 colleges participated in this round. The winners of this round will meet the winners of the South zone preliminaries at the grand finale, which will be held on September 8 at Dayananda Sagar Institutions.
