A City-based  youth drowned during his honeymoon in Munnar, Kerala, on Monday.
Munnavar Pasha (28), and his wife Nazia (24) were staying at a private hotel in Munnar.

According to the police in Munnar, the couple decided to visit a popular lake in the hill station and hired a jeep for the purpose.

“By mid-morning, the couple reached the spot and decided to swim in the lake. However, as Munnavar tried to swim deeper into the lake, away from the bank, the slippery rocks in the lake may have given way and he may have lost his balance,” the police said.

Nazia screamed for help as she watched her husband struggle for life.

Futile effort

The jeep driver tried gathering help, but to no avail. By the time the swimmers tried to save Munnavar, he had drowned.

The local residents shifted his body to the Adimali government hospital and informed the police.

The police, after confirming the identity of the victim from Nazia, contacted his father Anwar Pasha in Bangalore. Pasha and his family are residents of Tilak Nagar.

Lived in Saudi Arabia

According to one of Pasha’s family members, he had been working in Saudi Arabia for six years. He had returned home for his marriage.
