Dedicating the website divisional railway manager, SWR, Mysore,  B B  Verma described it as an important day. Most importantly, it augurs well with Dasara festivities set to start from Friday, he added. It will be a stepping stone towards incorporating newer technologies in the future.

Also, plans are on to provide link to the websites of Indian Railway Catering Transport Corporation (IRCTC) and Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC).

Explaining its features senior divisional commercial manager, SWR, Dr Anup Dayanand Sadhu stated that the website has an array of information pertaining to the history of the station, amenities, map, parking area, waiting lounges, refunds, parcel, concessions, wifi facility, railway museum, besides tourist spots in the city, mode of transportation available. Almost all the sections brim with photographs making the information complete.

Most importantly, it also has do’s and dont’s for passengers who may be vulnerable to crime on train.  Emergency telephone numbers and answers to frequently answered questions like how to reserve tickets?, what to do at the time of losing tickets? and other queries are also available. Sadhu claimed that it is a first such initiative among railway stations and will help in giving an easy access to the travellers. He assured that the programmes related to railways will be regularly updated on the website.

The website has been developed by M/s ProdatIT Solutions (India) Pvt. Ltd., a Bangalore based IT company.  Additional DRM, Goutam Majumder, Khalid of PradatIT and others were present.
