Alankara to Sri Krishna in Udupi mutt

The inauguration marks a striking beginning for the traditional ritualistic celebration of Navaratri in Udupi. The statue of Lord Krishna will be adorned with nine varieties of ‘Devi Alanakar’ on all the days of Navaratri. ‘Narayani,’ ‘Gajalaxmi,’ ‘Padmavathi,’ ‘Rukmini,’ ‘Sathyabhame’ are the ‘alankaras’ that prettify the idol of ‘balagopal’ for the next nine days.

Formal celebration was inaugurated by Paryaya Shiroor mutt seer Sri Laxmivaratheertha Sripada. Admaru mutt pontiff Sri Viswapriyatheertha Sripada delivered spiritual address on the occasion. It was followed by a religious discourse on ‘Srinivas kalyana’ from Pejawar mutt seer Sri Vishweshatheertha Sripada.

Cultural activities will be held for nine consecutive days. Bharathanatyam, Nritya Vaibhava, Drums vadana, Yakshagana-Bheeshma vijaya, veena vadana, classical music concert, venu vadana, bhakthigeethe are some of the cultural programmes that will be held on account of Navaratri celebration. Pejawar seer will deliver religious discourses on various topics on all the nine days.
