Congress leader H K Patil said that the Governor had directed the Chief Minsiter to prove his majority. The House is being convened for a specific purpose. The Speaker should not make efforts to disturb the composition of the House.
“The deadline to reply to the show cause notice is Oct 10, the day before the House assembles for trust vote. This clearly shows that the Speaker has a political motive,” he said.
As many as 19 MLAs had withdrawn their support to the BJP government. But the Speaker had served notices only to 11 MLAs who have been asked to be present personally to respond to the notice.
