Soon after attending the inauguration of Dasara celebrations, Yeddyurappa wanted to meet BJP MLA Shankarlingegowda at his residence in TK Layout. Five minutes before the chief minister could reach his place, Gowda went out. Gowda has submitted a letter to the governor to withdraw his support.

The chief minister accompanied by former minister Ramachandra Gowda and Nandish Preetham, Gowda’s son, entered his residence only to find that he had left the residence. The chief minister spoke to Gowda’s wife for a couple of minutes and returned to his car. Embarrassed chief minister avoided media. Gowda returned to his residence five minutes after the chief minister left his place.

Shankarlingegowda said he was unaware of the chief minister’s arrival to meet him and had been to a hospital. Sources said that the MLA had been to his son-in-law’s clinic on Hunsur Road.

Gowda said he was a loyal worker of the party and would remain within the fold, only to make a volte-face saying: “I will make my stand clear after discussing with the followers.”

Shankarlingegowda, who had hit headlines following a suicide attempt at legislator’s home in Bangalore on Thursday (denied by his family members), arrived in the city on Friday wee hours.

Earlier,  Yeddyurappa reiterated that he will emerge with flying colours in the acid test with the support of adequate number of MLAs.

Yeddyurappa said he had an information that Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi had written a letter to State Congress leaders telling them not to indulge in any efforts to dethrone the government.
