School attendant caught selling CWG complimentary tickets

34-year-old Rekha, who works in a school in Moti Nagar, was selling the tickets given to the school's Physical Education teacher by the father of a national level swimmer.The arrest came following media reports that tickets and complimentary passes were being sold in black market.

Police said the sportsman's father had got a number of complimentary tickets from the Games Organising Committe and had distributed these to many schools including the school in which Rekha was working.

A resident of Madipur, Rekha was apprehended from outside Gate No 14 and 15 on the Outer Periphery near the Organising Committee Ticket Counter last night, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) H G S Dhaliwal said.

"She told us that she got these tickets from a Physical Education Teacher of the school where she was working. The teacher had been given the tickets for distribution among school children and others," he said.

She was allegedly selling the 'passes' of CWG for entry to track and field events at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, he said adding 96 complimentary tickets of different denominations and dates have been recovered from her possession.

The recovered tickets included 11 tickets of Rs 500 denomination, 45 tickets of Rs 250 denominations and 40 tickets of Rs 100 denomination.

A case of cheating has been registered against her at police station Lodhi Colony.
"Rekha instead of distributing these tickets to the earmarked persons started selling these tickets at Gate No. 15 just near to the authorised Ticket Counter. No record of Complimentary Ticket was found either with the lady or with the school authority," Dhaliwal saiad.

Investigation is in progress and efforts are on to ascertain if other persons were also involved in the illegal sale of complimentary tickets, Dhaliwal said.
