It was a memorable day for the graduating students of NMKRV College for Women, Jayanagar, as they formed the first graduating batch under the autonomous scheme.
At a colourful function, hundreds of students from several streams collected their certificates with pride and satisfaction with the rank holders being felicitated.

Dr N Prabhu Dev, Vice-Chancellor, Bangalore University, delivered the convocation address and Dr Saroja Prabhakaran, Former Vice-Chancellor, Avinashalingam Women’s University, Coimbatore,  administered the oath to students during the convocation ceremony held at the college auditorium.

Most of the girls came in saris and while a few others were wearing white salwars for the occasion.  The joy of completing an important milestone in their lives was visible on their faces. The occasion provided them an opportunity to revisit their alma mater and interact with their favourite teachers, who had moulded their personalities.
Most of the students were seen exchanging greetings and sharing the their experiences post college.

The rank holders were the cynosure of everyone’s eyes and their classmates greeted them whole-heartedly on their achievement.  But due to time constraints, only a few students from each graduating batch were awarded with degree certificates on stage and most of them were denied the chance to get a photo clicked while receiving their certificates.

With this, some students missed an opportunity to treasure a memorable moment of their student lives. Naksha, the topper of arts stream, collected her degree certificate on the occasion and was awarded a gold medal by the college.

“I am really proud to be among the first graduating batch ever since college became autonomous. I was in touch with the college even after my graduation and kept visiting my teachers. This is one of the most qualified degree colleges in the City and I am speechless about the kind of support I enjoyed from the faculty members during my study years,” she says.
