'Asia Pacific Screen Awards' nomination for Atul Kulkarni

Last Updated 19 October 2010, 05:40 IST

The nomination comes in the wake of the 'Special Mention' at the Munich Film Festival in Germany for Atul's performance of a Tamasha dancer in critically-acclaimed Marathi movie, 'Natrang'.

The 45-year-old faces competition from Australia's veteran actor Tony Barry and Chen Daoming from China, to win the honours. Anant Mahadevan's Marathi directorial debut 'Mee Sindhutai Sapkal', an eponymous biopic on the noted social worker, has also been nominated for the Awards.

The jury for 4th Asia Pacific Screen Awards, to be held on December 2 at Australia's Gold Coast, will be chaired by film critic and historian, Adrienne Mc Kibbins, and includes Australia's film critic Russell Edwards amongst others.

In 2008, Naseeruddin Shah was one of the few Indian actors nominated for his performance in 'A Wednesday' for the best actor award.
