KSCA AGM on November 21

At the AGM, elections to pick 24 office-bearers for a three-year term will also be gone through.

Currently, Srikantadatta Narashimharaja Wadiyar is the president of the association while Brijesh Patel has held the secretary’s post since 1998.

The last elections in September 2007, when Wadiyar came into the association administration for the first time, had witnessed a tight, occasionally bitter battle for power.

Wadiyar had edged out former Indian captain Gundappa Viswanath to the president’s post on that occasion.

The equations aren’t all too clear this time around, though there is every possibility that the polls will be as keenly, and hotly, contesteed now as they were three years back.

It is unclear yet if some of Karnataka’s former India internationals will make their maiden forays into administration per se, lending more suspense in the build-up to the nomination phase.

The second Test between India and Australia at the Chinnaswamy stadium from October 9 to 13 meant the elections, generally held in September, had to be postponed.

The November 21 AGM comes just a fortnight before the fourth India-New Zealand one-dayer at the Chinnaswamy stadium on December 7, though it is unlikely that the AGM and its aftermath will have any bearing on the conduct of the international fixture.
