Porno CDs, DVDs confiscated

As many as 2,100 MP3 disks, 2,800 DVDs, 1,350 VCDs, 4,000 duplicate stickers and 64 pornographic movie disks worth Rs 4,72,500 were seized from Shivam Musics near Clock Tower in the City. Meanwhile, the police seized 1,100 MP3 disks, 1,260 DVDs, 1,250 VCDs and 24 pornographic movie disks worth Rs 2,43,500 from Satyam Cassettes in Saibeen Complex.

Addressing a press conference, City Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh said that the raids were conducted based on the complaint filed by Executive Officer of the Mumbai based Universal Copyright Protection Organisation Mukheshchandra Bhat.

“Owners of the shops were engaged in duplicating popular Kannada, Hindi, English, Malayalam and Tulugu movies and songs illegally to sell it to buyers for cheap price. Moreover, they were also circulating pornographic movie disks to customers in their shops,” he added.Cases have been booked against owners of the shops Ganapathi Kini and Ramanath Kini.

1 arrested

The special police team arrested an accused, who was involved in several masjid theft cases. The arrested has been identified as Ummer Farooq (20). Police seized 34 microphone sets worth Rs one lakh from the accused, which were allegedly stolen from various masjids in the district.

2 held for selling ganja

The Mangalore Coastal Security Police succeeded in nabbing two, who were allegedly engaged in selling ganja near Sri Sadashiva Temple in Surathkal.

Police Inspector Mukund Nayak stated in a press release that three kilograms of ganja worth Rs 90,000 and a Hero Honda motorbike were seized. The arrested has been identified as Husein alias Unhi (54) of Katipalla and Sadiq alias Shaji (35), a resident of Bunder. The accused were waiting for customers when the police conducted raid, the release added.
