Rajiv's birth hospital to be demolished

Last Updated 21 October 2010, 16:46 IST

The place was the four-storey Cumballa Hill Hospital at one of Mumbai’s most famous landmark, the Kemps Corner.

Now, the room in which Rajiv spent his early hours, as well as the hospital itself, will be demolished to give way for a 22-storey multi-speciality hospital, with a helipad.

Currenlty, the hospital has only 50 beds and also houses a heart research institute, which is known for its excellent cardio facility. The hospital management has bought an adjacent plot, on which the construction would soon begin. Once that phase of 100-bed is over, then the existing hospital structure will be demolished.
