Ex-CAG meets PM to discuss CWG probe

This is Shunglu’s first meeting with Manmohan Singh after the Prime Minister constituted the high-level committee on October 15 to look into the allegations of irregularities related to the mega-sporting event.

Terms of reference

During the meeting, the nitty-gritty of the terms of reference for the Shunglu committee and possible members of his team were also finalised.

The committee will submit its report to the prime minister within three months.
Besides Shunglu, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister T K A Nair and Cabinet Secretary K M Chandrasekhar were also present during the meeting.

Earlier in the day, Shunglu, who arrived here on Friday, met Nair and discussed the modalities for the probe.

The terms and references are likely to be announced by early next week.
Shunglu had on Friday said the probe was aimed at arriving “right conclusions”.
The Central Vigilance Commission, which has already started its inquiry will submit its report to the Shunglu committee.
