Girl's info leads to father's killers

Byappanahalli police on Wednesday arrested Vijayalakshmi, her mother, cousin Parmavarnam and her husband Perumal on the charge of killing 37-year-old mechanic Chhaddiappa. Vijayalakshmi is the first wife of the victim and they were married for the past ten years. According to police the four had  planned the murder a month ago.

According to Vijayalakshmi, she was harassed by Chhaddiappa forcing her to sleep with his friends. He used to stay with Vijayalakshmi for one week at Malleshpalya and for another week with his second wife, Geetha, in HAL area.

Police said on October 24, Vijayalakshmi gave Rs 1,000 to Perumal who had taken Chhaddiappa to a bar. “They both got drunk and returned home at 10.30 pm. When Chhadiappa was asleep, the four suspects garroted him with a wire, slit his throat and chopped off his genitals. Vijayalakshmi misled the police claiming that three persons came in an auto and dumped the body of her husband at about 3 am on Monday.

However, Saritha, the daughter of Chhaddiappa had witnessed the murder and narrated the incident to the police. A pool of blood was noticed in the house where victim’s bike was also found parked. The post mortem report indicated that the death might have occurred before midnight.

“In view of all these findings, we spoke to Saritha and arrested Vijayalakshmi who confessed to the murder,” police said. The remaining three were arrested following the interrogation of Vijayalakshmi.

Youth hacked to death

A youth was hacked to death in Yelahanka New Town area on Wednesday morning.
A six-member gang armed with lethal weapons attacked a BJP worker, Vajresh (28),  resident of Attur Layout near SBI junction, at around 10.45 am. Eye witnesses told police that the gang butchered Vajresh and fled the scene within minutes.

The police said that Vajresh was a rowdy sheeter and has more half-dozen cases registered against him. This He was into small time real estate business for last couple of years.

Woman found dead

A 27-year-old married woman’s body was found hanging from the ceiling at her Papanna Garden residence in RT Nagar on Wednesday afternoon.

Punita alias Pushpa was found hanging when her husband Anand, working at a petrol bunk, returned home around 4.30 pm, the police said. “Anand came home and found the door locked from inside. He tried to contact her over the phone which kept on ringing. He broke open the door with the help of neighbours only to see his wife’s body hanging from the ceiling”, police said.

No suicide note was found. The couple was married for three years. Pushpa’s family members accused Anand of harassing her for dowry. They alleged Anand was unhappy despite giving a house in BTM Layout and demanded agricultural land.
