Last Updated 28 October 2010, 13:17 IST

Channel Marketing Vice President Rajiv Bakshi told reporters here today that Discovery decided to launch the Telugu feed on October one, to take their programmes to common people in India in as many states as possible.

He said Discovery was the first international channel to broadcast its programmes in Indian regional languages. It already has Hindi and Tamil feeds, which he says has good viewership.

Bakshi hoped that the Telugu feed from 6pm to midnight, would also receive a good response, based on which the timings may be extended. Discovery reaches over 53 million subscribers in 1500 towns and more than two lakh villages in the country.
