Infosys, Cisco, Nokia Siemens, IBM, HCL, Microsoft, Wipro, Dell, Intel, Mahindra Satyam are among the companies that appear in the sponsors list in this year’s IT.Biz, the biggest annual IT event in Karnataka. Many of them have also put up stalls in the exhibition, unlike in the earlier editions of the event.

An executive of Mahindra Satyam at the event said the growing importance of the domestic market and the need to reach out to prospective employees in a competitive hiring market had prompted many IT majors to set up stalls at the Bangalore IT.Biz 2010. Mahindra Satyam has put up a stall at the exhibition to promote its solutions to captives of MNCs, defence and public sector units and larger private companies.

Infosys has put up a large stall showcasing three of its recent solutions —Finacle Inclusion, a banking solution for rural markets, Flypp, a mobile app platform and Holistic Information Management Infrastructure (HIMI), an analytics solution.

IBM is promoting training for its hardware such as AX, I Series and mainframe servers. An IBM representative at the stall, who said the company was targeting enterprises and individual IT professionals, was happy with the response.

In contrast to the more ambitious participation of its peers, Wipro was content to promote its desktops and laptops. A stall representative said response from visitors was moderate. Despite the visible presence of IT majors, the exhibition is dominated by small and mid-size firms and government agencies.

But, in sum, the 2010 edition has grown larger in size. According to the organisers 115 speakers, 6,000 business delegates and 125 companies are taking part in the event. Last year, the event attracted 86 speakers, 5000 delegates and 89 companies.
