Board to stage street plays for two months

This was disclosed by Sachidananda Hegde, chairman of the board here. He said every day they will be giving two shows at 6 pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays inside the exhibition grounds premises and also near Mysore Palace Circle, in front of Zoo, railway station, near Rural and City bus stand, near Sri Chamundi Temple, adjacent to exhibition main entrance, near Devaraj Urs Market, K R Hospital and in the premises of University of Mysore.

The chief secretary has issued circular to all the deputy commissioners to extend all assistance and cooperation to the board for implementing its ambitious project of making villages free from liquor and drugs.

The board has chalked out several programmes in the current year and implemented the programme of making villages free from bad habits on an experimental basis in Uttara Kannada district.

Hegde said the board is discussing with Hyderabad-Karnatak Development Board and Gulbarga District Administration for implementing the programmes in north Karnataka and Hyderabad-Karnatak region too. They would like to create awareness especially among the youths by taking the help of law students of University of Law, Dharwad.
The matter has already been discussed with the vice-chancellor of that university.

Programmes like workshop, jatha and awareness programmes in the region. In fact, Dr D Veerendra Heggade, dharmadhikari of Sree Kshethra Dharmastala had been implementing special de-addiction camps in that area, in association with the board.
He said four drama troupes; Amardev’s Roopatara Creative People, Mysore Ramanand’s Hejje Gejje, T C Nataraj’s Rajani Kala Sangha and Ranghabharana Kalakendra will be playing street plays. A stall is opened at Dasara exhibition grounds as part of awareness campaign.
