The competitions were held in August at the Army Public School premises. The prize winning stories have been published already in the Student Edition of Deccan Herald.

Handing over the prizes, Deccan Herald Senior Editor Ramakrishna Upadhya and Deputy General Manager S V Srinivasan urged the students to read the Student Edition newspaper they received in their schools and not just to bundle them and carry them home. “Let us know what you feel about the newspaper so that we can improve it,” they said.

Shobitha S Cherian of Bishop Cotton Girls’ School, M Shivaraghavi of Air Force School, ASTE, the winners in the senior category and the junior section winners Vamsee Krishna Y, Abhishek Pisharody of Bishop Cotton Boys’ School and Vivek Bhat of National Public School (HSR), collected their prizes. Missing out on the occasion was the second prize winner among the seniors, Kiran Suresh of DPS, North. Some of the parents and teachers present at the function said the format of the competition was interesting as it motivated the children and brought out their individuality. The children had been asked to spin their stories on the basis of short, single line cues and photographs.
