Reddy was the Minister of State for Home in the J H Patel government. He represented the then Varthur Assembly constituency. He began his political career with the erstwhile Janata Dal. When the party split, he identified himself with the JD(U). He later joined the BJP. He was aspiring to contest 2008 Assembly elections from K R Puram as a BJP candidate, but failed to get the party ticket.
He is survived by wife, two sons and two daughters. The last rites were conducted at Munnekolala in K R Puram.
