Last Updated 20 November 2010, 18:29 IST

Amrin Bhanu (23), wife of Mohammed Nasiruddin of Udayagiri, had succumbed to burns she suffered in a mishap on November 14, at a hospital on Friday night.

In her dying statement to the tahsildar earlier, she had accused her husband of setting her ablaze. Subsequently, Nasiruddin was arrested by the cops.

Cops said differences erupted between the couple a year after their marriage two years ago.

Bhanu had lodged a complaint against her husband at Women’s Police Station.

A chargesheet had been submitted to the court, when Bhanu turned hostile and stated they had reconciled.

Considering her request, the court had kept the case under observation for six months. Since then, they were living separately in Rajivnagar.

Bhanu’s relatives who were seething over her untimely death barged into the residence of Bhanu’s mother-in-law Farkunda Khanum at KEB Colony in Udayagiri, after breaking open the door on Saturday afternoon.

They damaged furniture and electronic gadgets and ransacked the almirah.
Had not the police arrived on time, the situation would have gone bad to worse, said a local. Nasiruddin’s brother Tajuddin has lodged a complaint in this regard.
