Lecturers to take part in 'Sankalp Yatra' on Dec 7

As many as 10,000 lecturers are expected to gather in Bangalore

Addressing a news conference Association President P Mahadevaswamy and Karnataka Secondary Teachers’ Association District President G Kenchappa said that the Yatra will be held under the aegis of State Pre University Department various Lecturers’ and Employees’ Federation and over 10,000 lecturers are expected to take part in the programme, taking mass holiday.

Kodagu district Pre University College Lecturers’ and Employees’ Association and Karnataka State Secondary Teachers’ association have decided to extend complete support to the struggle.

Hence a team of lecturers from the district will take part in the Yatra in Bangalore. The Associations have urged all the lecturers of the district to take part in the Yathra and make it a success.

Memorandum to CM

Mahadevaswamy said that a memorandum was submitted to Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa during his visit to district on August 15, keeping forth various demand.
“We had urged the CM to sanction hill allowance for the teachers here who have to travel long distance in hilly terrain,” he said.


Withdrawal of the order to stop promotion of lecturers hired on contract basis, after seven years, provide uniform pay scale and job security to unaided Pre University college employees, release funds to unaided Pre University Colleges and High schools, make B.Ed compulsory for Pre University College lecturers, fix Rs 15,000 as salary to visiting faculty, follow 75:25 policy while promoting high school assistant teachers, implement C&R policy for Physical Education Teachers, make JOC teachers permanent and provide medical insurance instead of medical allowance to lecturers and the assistant teachers of aided colleges and schools were some of the demands made in the memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister.
