<p>A bench comprising Justices Altamas Kabir and Cyriac Joseph issued the notices after hearing the counsel for the petitioners whose disqualification has been upheld by Karnataka High Court. <br /><br />The Apex court has asked the Chief Minister and the Speaker to file their responses by December 7 and the next hearing has been fixed on December 9. The 11 BJP MLAs were disqualified by the Speaker for revolting against the Yeddyurappa government. <br /><br />Petitioners Balchandra L Jarkiholi, Gopal Krishna Belur, M V Nagarj and others were also debarred from voting during the vote of confidence as they openly declared that they would vote against the BJP led Government. <br /><br />The petitioners contended that the speaker did not give them an opportunity to explain their position before disqualifying them. <br /><br />The Speaker, however, disqualified them under the provisions of anti-defection law taking their statements into account.</p>
