Speaker's securityman dies in crash

Monappa, who sustained severe head injuries, died in the hospital. He hails from B Shettigeri in South Kodagu.

Head Constable Somanna, Constable Vasanth and driver Yogish have sustained severe injuries on head and face. They were rushed to the government hospital for preliminary treatment but were soon shifted to Mysore for further treatment.

The vehicle was plying from Madikeri to Bangalore as security to Bopaiah when the accident occurred. The driver in an attempt to save a bike rider ripping from the opposite direction, lost control over the vehicle and hit the timber lorry parked on the roadside.

Bopaiah and Appachu Ranjan, MLA immediately took the injured personnel in their vehicles to Kushalnagar hospital.

However, while Monappa breathed his last on the way to the hospital, the remaining victims could get immediate treatment.

Bopaiah and his wife Kunthi Bopaiah were at the hospital and conveyed their condolence for death of Monappa. Superintendent of Police Manujath Annigeri, DySP Jayaprakash, CPI Basavaraj, SI R G Chennagowda and others visited the hospital.
