As many as 250 students from different age-groups, dressed in colourful costumes, presented their skills at Talents 2010 Dance Fiesta, the annual day celebration of Genesis, the fitness forum.

The event, which saw 26 different performances, was held at Chowdiah Memorial Hall. There was much variety in the dances, like freestyle, salsa, hip-hop, Bollywood, contemporary, belly dance and more.

Rohit Nair, Managing Director, Genesis said, “We see to it that every student gets an opportunity to expose their talents on stage. We don’t just want to have an annual event to commemorate the success of our organisation but also provide a platform for every student here. This not only curbs stage fear but also help in boosting their self-confidence.”

The programme began with the tiny tots, who were just three to five-years-old dancing to the tunes of Daddy Cool and All is Well from 3 idiots.

The enthusiasm of the kids and their energy delighted the audience.

Following this was a dance piece by sub-juniors in the age group of seven to ten, who let their hair down and danced to the song Robot from the film Endhiran and I'm a Disco Dancer.

Up next was a salsa demo by a group which matched groovy steps to a Latin song.
The choreography was well balanced and the costumes also deserve a mention.
After this was the most awaited piece, wherein the kids payed tribute to Michael Jackson.
They danced to some of his famous numbers and received huge applause from the audience.

The most interesting part of the event was a belly dance by the seniors who danced to the Shakira number Waka Waka, which left the awe-struck audience shouting ‘once more’. Some of the other performances included a body-building demo and
contemporary dance performances on concepts like afforestation and global warming.

Dinesh Mehta, who had come to watch the event, said, “It was an exhilarating
performance by the whole team. It is a great opportunity for the students as well as
the audience to witness a performance on such a large scale as it caters to varied tastes. I think kids should be encouraged to pursue their passion and dreams to help them explore new horizons.”

“It was nice to see so many kids coming together to perform before a huge crowd without inhibitions,” said Jayanthi, a homemaker.

The last piece was a medley of A R Rahman’s popular numbers for which the entire team of Genesis performed.
