Charges framed against Sufiya

According to the chargesheet filed at the special NIA court in Kochi, Sufiya and a person called P Majeed were the key conspirators of the crime which was carried out in protest against the Tamil Nadu government’s alleged ill-treatment of Madani in the Coimbatore jail. Sufiya has been listed as the 10th accused in the case. She was arrested on December 18 last year and released on bail later.

The incident took place in 2005 when alleged PDP activists hijacked a bus owned by the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation bus near Aluva and set it on fire near Kalamassery after asking the passengers to get down.

The NIA had found that all the accused except Sufiya had met at a mosque near Aluva a day before to finalise the plan.
