Forest watcher receives bullet injury

According to police, the watcher, Raju has been hit on the left leg. He was given the first-aid at Halagur Hospital and was later shifted to the Mandya district hospital.

 It is said the poachers were around 10-15 and one among them was Prakash of Basavanahalli village. Many have fled the village to evade the arrest.

Poaching has been going on unabated in the forests. Acting on an information, Watcher Raju and Forest Guard Jagadish had entered the forest to nab the poachers.

 The duo followed the gang till Konanatalematta. On seeing the forest staff, the poachers opened fire and the bullet hit Raju.

Forester D Devaraju visited the spot on Friday. Halagur Police have registered a case and are investigating.
