No word from BCCI on Pak players in IPL: PCB sources

"Until today we have received no intimation from the Indian board seeking clearance for any player from our side," a source in the Pakistan Cricket Board said.

The source said the normal process has been that the Indian Cricket Board first writes to the PCB which then nominates the players for IPL.

"The procedure has always been since the start of the IPL that the Indians write to us and ask us to nominate names for the players auction and last year they even told us to get clearance first from the ministry of sports for our payers to play in the IPL," he said.

"The PCB itself cannot forward names of any players by itself since the IPL is a venture of the Indian board and they have to decide players from which countries should take part in the auction," the source added.

BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla told 'Geo Super' channel that he was not aware of any official decision by the Indian board not to allow Pakistani players in the IPL.

"To my knowledge so far we haven't taken any decision but I will check up and let you know," Shukla said.

The issue of Pakistani players playing in the IPL has been a thorny issue since the Mumbai terror attacks in 2008 after which Pakistani players have not been able to participate in the lucrative league for different reasons.

Except for the inaugural edition of the IPL when Pakistani players turned out in full force for the Twenty20 event, they have not got a chance to do this again.

Pakistani players were deeply offended at the last IPL players auction when despite the PCB sending names of a dozen players none of them were bid for by the franchises leading to accusations that it was a deliberate attempt by former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi to insult Pakistani cricketers.
