Hundreds of residents use this stretch of road to keep themselves fit as this is the only open space available in the city. Earlier, they were walking on the open ground behind Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS), but now they have changed their route due to high rise buildings and increase in traffic. They have also stopped using the district stadium as it is being used to hold political rallies and other public functions.

The morning walkers were finding the ring road as the better place for physical exercise. But of late, the CMC has been using the open space to dump garbage there much to the opposition of citizens. All kinds of garbage collected from the entire city, are dumped on the outer ring road without bothering its effects on people’s health.

After the development of the outer ring road, the land rate has shot up and many high rise buildings, houses, shops and other  business establishments were coming up. The local mutton stall owners dump animal waste on periphery of outer ring road only to aggravate the problem.

The Maharaja Park is filled with tepid smell due to release of sewage water by the department concerned. This is causing problems for local residents.

The people have demanded the authorities concerned to clear the garbage on either side of the outer ring road and to maintain cleanliness in Maharaja Park in the interest of joggers.
