Music Mechanics, the brainchild of the team at Nathaniel School of Music, was recently held at the Cathedral High School. This workshop was a perfect platform for amateurs to start their journey into the world of music. The idea behind the event was to give the enthusiasts enough boost so that they enter the music world and stay there for a long time to learn an instrument.

The line-up of instructors for the day included the who's who of Indian rock. The workshop had names like Floyd Fernandes talking about guitar and musicality, Muthu Kumar teaching percussion, Gaurav Vaz about music business, Tony Das speaking about guitar plat and songwriting, Ryan Colaco on drums, Jason Zachariah about keyboard and production and Lillian Zachariah on voice and theory.

An overall look at the music industry was taken at the workshop and every little detail and doubts were discussed and cleared so that the newcomers had a smooth stay. And the attendees surely seemed to get everything they had signed for. The set of workshops brought together all aspects of music from technical, instrument and tool driven sessions on playing and production, to the more soft skill talks on presentation, stage presence and the business side. Instead of being theoretical, the sessions saw people from the music business telling it as it is.

This was the fourth edition of the workshop and the response was good. “We usually have this workshop every two months and this time around, we had nearly 40 people
coming in,” said Jason Zachariah, the director of NSM.

The student got up close and personal with some of the best musical minds in the industry and it was a great experience for them to interact with the geniuses. And to top it all the veterans spoke about their music, journeys and shared exercises, tips and tricks that helped them to get to where they are today.

The day was everything a music lover would need to get started on their personal musical journey.
