JOIN USAccording to police sources here, the youth identified as Amar Singh Yadav, strangulated the woman, who lived alone in her house in the posh Georgetown locality in the city, to death after raping her on Wednesday.
As the culprit was about to escape he saw the woman’s maid coming into the house and he immediately climbed on to the rooftop and hid there, the police said. He was, however, nabbed, when the police searched the house for possible clues and evidence, sources added.
Yadav claimed that he had no intention of killing the woman, but he strangulated her after she threatened to file a police complaint.
Police, however, said the culprit who used to work in the woman’s house as a domestic help was thrown out after she grew suspicious. “Yadav had hatched a plan to rob the woman,” the police added.
