The governor guided the Opposition parties in drafting the complaint against him so that he could accord sanction for prosecution, Yeddyurappa said.

The chief minister, while talking to reporters on Monday said the governor should seek a public apology for insulting him by calling him a thief. Otherwise the BJP will file a defamation suit against him, he said. “My friends in the party are willing to file a defamation suit against him,” he said.

He said Bhardwaj had downgraded the office of governor by his partisan attitude. He should demit the office respectfully. He should choose a state of his liking and leave Karnataka. “It is good for the state and him as well,” he said.

Asked whether he would challenge the governor’s sanction in court, he said he would go by the advice of the party’s central leaders.
