A Full Bench, comprising Justices Mohan Shanthanagoudar, Abdul Nazeer and A S Bopanna, reserved its orders after concluding the hearing from both parties.

Earlier in the day, Bopaiah submitted a memo along with records relating to the disqualification of the independent MLAs.

The memo submitted by C Shashikantha, counsel for the Speaker stated that there is no precedent of issuing a direction to the Speaker of an Assembly to produce the records in a petition under Article 226 and 227 of Constitution of India.

“ However out of utmost respect for the court without in any way waiving off any protection granted to a Speaker of the Assembly under the Constitution of India, the records are produced,” he said.

Following the completion of hearing, the bench has now reserved the judgment. P M Narendraswamy, Gulihatti D Shekhar, D Sudhakar, Shivaraj S Thangadagi and Venkataramanappa were disqualified by Bopaiah on October 10, a day before Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa sought the vote of confidence.
