Gastroentiritis cases in Mulbagal

More than 50 cases of diarrhoea were reported at the government hospital in Mulbagal on Thursday.

According to the medical officers, Dr Manjula and Kadenahalli Dr Manu, the scorching sun and contaminated drinking water are the main reasons for the spread of gastroentiritis.

They advised the people across the village to drink boiled water.

Tahasildar Harishilpa and Town Municipality President Dr Rahamutullakhan visited the government hospital to take stock of the situation. They said, a memorandum was submitted to the tahasildar on this occasion urging for supplying medicine and initiating precautionary measures.

Cleanliness

The medicines will be distributed with the help of the  town municipality councils and gram panchayats. The civic organisations should also maintain cleanliness in their areas.

Tahasildar Harishilpa told Deccan Herald that precautionary measures including bleaching the water tanks.

Kasaba Revenue Inspector B R Munivenkatappa was also present on the occasion.

Pipelines damaged

State Kisan Sabha General Secretary M Gopal has alleged that the potable water is contaminated as the water pipes in several areas have been damaged.

He attributed the outbreak of the disease to the apathy of the TMC officials.

He alleged that the water pipes were damaged while carrying out underground drainage works. As the sewage mixed water is supplied across the town, the cases of gastroentitis has been increasing alarmingly, he alleged.

He demanded that the taluk administration will initiate steps to check the spread of disease immediately.
