Lady murdered with screwdriver

Kamalamma was not in good terms with her family and neighbours. She also had problems with her tenants. Kamalamma’s husband is said to have deserted her more than two decades ago, and she was not on talking terms with her daughters, according to police. Investigators said that clues have been secured and the case would be cracked shortly.

Lorry cleaner killed

A lorry cleaner was attacked and killed in Shakambarinagar (JP Nagar police station limits) on Sunday night.The victim Dharma (20), was a native of Chikamagalur. Police said, the suspects, Ranga and Thurai, are absconding. Ranga had allegedly borrowed Dharma's cell phone, and then tried to sell the instrument. Upon coming to know of the plan, Dharma forced the latter to return the instrument. Ranga then, along with Thurai, allegedly attacked Dharma in front of his house. Dharma suffered multiple injuries in his abdomen and private parts. He was shifted to a hospital, where he was declared dead at 3.30 pm on Monday.

Rider dies

A motorcyclist was killed on the spot when he was knocked down by a goods vehicle near BMTC bus depot on Chandra Layout Main Road on Monday evening. The deceased, Parvath, was a resident of Kengunte near Jnanabharati was a worker at a brick factory.
The accident occurred when Parvath was returning home. He was tossed up in the air as the goods vehicle rammed his bike. The vehicle driver is absconding, police said.

Dowry death

Indramma, a 31-year-old woman hanged herself allegedly due to dowry harassment in Vijaynagar on Monday. She was married to Venkateshmurthy seven years ago. The latter would always harass Indramma to bring more dowry. She committed suicide as she could no longer bear torture. The couple have two sons. The police have arrested Venkateshmurthy.

Found dead

The body of a  26-year-old youth was found floating in a water sump at his residence in Prakash Nagar on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Arun. Police have registered a case of unnatural death. Arun’s family said that he was depressed after did badly in the Gram Panchayath secretary/ Rural Development Assistant (Grade I) examination.

Thieves held

Ashoknagar police have arrested three persons in connection with a robbery case. The arrested - Madan, Harikrishna, Bhanuprakash, all of whom are in their twenties - had waylaid Deepu Omen and Harshavardan. They allegedly attacked and injured Deepu before snatching the duo’s valuables, mobile phones, i-pod and cash.

During interrogation, the culprits confessed that they were aware that the police were busy in bandobust duty (for Bangalore Karaga), and they wanted to cash in on the situation. The car that Deepu and Harshavardhan were travelling in developed a technical snag. They had parked it and began looking for an alternative mode of transport when they were waylaid by the accused at the Anepalya Junction. The vehicle used by the accused has been seized.

House burgled

Burglars made away with valuables worth more than Rs 50,000 from a house in Mariyannapalya, Amruthahalli recently. The owner of the house, C Maria, has stated that family went out of town on Saturday. On their return, they found that the house was broken into, and valuables missing.
