The Cabinet took this decision following opposition from members of these communities to bring them under the Act. If necessary, a separate legislation will be enacted for these communities, he added.

“The State Government wants to give grants for rejuvenation of Jain temples in the State. Hence the Cabinet had decided to include these communities under the fold of Hinduism. As people belonging to these communities have objected to it, the Cabinet revoked its decision,” he said.
